Music Rights & Release Readiness
A recording involves more than the finished audio. Contributor information, ownership records, agreements, identifiers, and metadata must accurately reflect the music and the parties responsible for it.
SunGrass Records supports artists, producers, labels, and catalog owners in organizing this information and coordinating the administrative work required for a defined project or release.
The engagement is structured around the project's existing documentation, the remaining work, and the responsibilities SunGrass Records is authorized to undertake.
Scope of Services
The work is determined by the project's existing records, the rights and responsibilities involved, and the specific services authorized under the engagement.
Contributor & Credit Documentation
Collect and organize information concerning songwriters, composers, performers, producers, and other contributors associated with a recording or musical composition.
Responsibilities may include documenting contributor roles, consolidating approved credits, and identifying incomplete or inconsistent information requiring confirmation.
Ownership & Split Records
Organize documented ownership information and agreed contributor splits for master recordings and musical compositions.
Where agreements, allocations, or approvals remain incomplete or inconsistent, SunGrass Records identifies the outstanding matters for resolution by the responsible parties.
Metadata & Registration Coordination
Prepare and review recording and composition metadata, including relevant contributor information, titles, identifiers, ownership records, and release details.
Work may include preparing or coordinating copyright, publishing, and rights-organization registrations where authorized, and aligning information across applicable administrative systems.
Release Readiness & Administrative Handoff
Review the administrative materials required for a defined release and coordinate outstanding information before delivery or registration activities.
Depending on the engagement, this may include consolidating approved records, coordinating with existing service providers, identifying unresolved dependencies, and preparing an organized handoff for the next stage of the project.
Engagement Process
The process begins with an assessment of what already exists and what the project requires. Work proceeds only after the responsibilities and scope of the engagement have been established.
Initial Review
SunGrass Records reviews the project's relevant context, available documentation, existing service providers, and intended release or administrative objectives.
The purpose is to identify the work that may be appropriate, not to presume that the project's existing infrastructure is inadequate.
Defined Scope
The engagement establishes the assigned services, responsibilities, deliverables, compensation, timing, and any authority required to perform the work.
Existing agreements and professional relationships are considered when determining how the work should be structured.
Documentation & Coordination
SunGrass Records performs the agreed administrative work, maintains relevant project records, and coordinates with the parties responsible for providing information or approving decisions.
Matters requiring additional documentation, authorization, or specialist input are identified as they arise.
